COMPTON FARM CAMPING & CARAVANS Campsite & Static Caravans
Situated 1.5 miles east of Freshwater Bay on the A3055 (Military Road) and boasting stunning natural views to the chalk downland valley and Compton Bay, Compton Farm is the ideal location for a family holiday or short break. The farm dates back to 1086 and has been farmed by the present family for many years. Sheltered in a downland valley on National Trust land (which has Site of Special Scientific Interest status) guests can take a variety of walks over the Downs, to enjoy stunning views, and the wonderful wildflowers.
Only a quarter of a mile away is Compton Bay, the last unspoilt sandy beach of the Island; safe for children and swimming, it faces south and catches all of the sun.
The campsite is situated in a well drained field with facilities which include a modern toilet block with showers, and hot and cold washbasins. Free hot water for washing up and a small laundry.
In a fold facing the Downs, we have a small site for our twelve well equipped static caravans. Each is fitted with a full size cooker and fridge, shower and flush toilet. No TVs are provided. There is plenty of space for car parking nearby and a large field for games.
Our site is peaceful, quiet and in no way commercialised at all. It is very much a traditional campsite. Many of our guests who visited as children themselves bring back their own families. Children can have good old fashioned fun, with old tractors to play on, ducks to feed, eggs to collect, and the space and freedom to fly their kites and ride their bikes around the farm. The nearby beach is sandy, safe and clean. Dinosaur fossils and footprints are even visible at low tide!
For more adventurous activities, bring your surf and body boards, for some excellent surfing on nearby beaches. There is also a spectacular links golf course nearby while handgliding, paragliding, windsurfing, and horse riding are also available nearby.
Open from Easter to school Autumn half term, with low season between Easter - mid July and September - October and high season from mid July to end of August.
